We began working with RMS around the same time as Just For Men (2019) - both beauty brands, both with very different audiences (obviously). I liked working on this account - very poppy and high-spirited, with bold colors and attitude. The client was very open to blending the live action shots with motion graphics and product shots, which allowed us to have some fun with the edits. We spent more time than usual in finishing, the color grade being particularly important - I wish we would have had a little more budget for VFX clean ups, but I think we walked away with some really nice pieces.
Side note: Founder Rose-Marie Swift is NOT related to Taylor Swift.
Daily Lip Balm
I love how bright and poppy this piece is; the smears of makeup transitions, the lipstick sequence up front, and especially the motion graphics throughout. Everything just feels kind of smooth, effortless and flowing. Definitely one of my favorite cuts that we worked on during our time with RMS.
“Un” Cover Up
Punchy cut! The music sets the whole energy here. “Un” Cover Up was part of a set of videos we were cutting for RMS right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a challenging time, as everyone was trying to figure out how to adapt workflows and discover new ways of working. Fortunately, these cuts came together really smoothly and the finishing process didn’t fight us at all. Encouraging during otherwise unsettling times.
Living Luminizer
Sleeker, sharper, and a little more “reserved” than the other cuts, but I love the look of this one - the muted background makes her lips, eyes and skin tone pop; even the lighter, powdery look of the product shots adds a nice layer to everything (almost like yin and yang). I liked the music track for this edit so much that I laid some vocals on top of it in my own time, just for fun. Ask me about it, if you wanna take a listen.
